Hudson, NY

Hudson, New York

Last Sunday my sister and I ventured up to the little town of Hudson, nestled along the river near the Catskills. It is so incredibly cute. Itā€™s in Columbia county about an hour and forty minutes north of my parents home in Westchester county.

It was a place that Iā€™ve been wanting to explore for a while, and I thought it required staying overnight but weā€™ve determined thatā€™s not the case! Its possible to either do just a day trip, or make a weekend out of it at one of the cute hotels in town!

We arrived before noon with plenty of time to walk the main street, called Warren. We grabbed coffee, did some thrift shopping, looked through some antique stores, had lunch, and hit just about every boutique in Hudson. We had a great day, it helped me scope out some of the best spots for future visits!

Dining in Hudson

Iā€™ve heard there are some amazing restaurants here, and Lauren and I got to try one that is absolutely worth visiting on your trip to Hudson! Itā€™s called Feast & Floret It was an incredibly cozy spot for the winter, and we were seated next to a warm fireplace nearby a cart full of fresh flowers and the open kitchen where we could watch the chefs at work.

We started the meal with some grilled flatbread to dip into ricotta with honey. Then we shared a chicken milanese and a delicious whole wheat lumache pasta with tivoli mushrooms. It was delightful! I would definitely come back here for lunch or dinner again.

Shopping in Hudson

There are a ton of thrift and antique stores in Hudson like I mentioned! If this is something you are in to youā€™ll love it. Though Iā€™m not shopping for much home decor at the moment it was still fun to browse. And if you are looking for furniture Iā€™d recommend checking out the Antique Warehouse which has a ton of vendors.

Here are some of the best stores we checked out:

Lodging in Hudson

We saw several cute hotels in town and there are more along the water that would have beautiful views of the river year round. Here are a few good options!

Activities & Experiences in Hudson

Depending on the season you visit then how you spend the day could range! In the Spring and Summer there are nearby hikes and outdoor activities on the river that you can explore.

If you need something warm and indoors to do in the Fall and Winter there is a wine and candle bar called Poured that seems so awesome. Not only can you make candles with over 70 different fragrances but you can also enjoy wine, beer and local cheese and charcuterie.

There are also multiple art galleries around town, and a fantastic bookstore called Spotty Dog Books & Ale where you can grab a cup of coffee or a beer.

There is definitely more to explore next time, even beyond the town of Hudson! Nearby villages in Kingston, Rhinebeck, Athens, and Woodstock are ones that Iā€™m excited to check out in the near future too.

Hope this has inspired you to take a trip up north yourself!
